Definition
下凡 refers to a celestial being (immortal, deity, or fairy) descending from heaven to the mortal world — a central concept in Chinese mythology, folklore, and xianxia fantasy. As a separable verb (离合词), 下 can split from 凡 when inserting modifiers such as duration or frequency, e.g., 下了一次凡 ('descended to the world once').
