Definition
下行 (xià xíng) is a specialized verb used for trains heading away from the capital (or main hub) and for boats traveling downstream. It directly contrasts with 上行 (shàng xíng), which means the opposite: toward the capital or upstream. Unlike the general verb 下 (xià, 'to go down'), 下行 is restricted to these fixed transportation contexts.
