Definition

为主 is a verb phrase that is almost always used in the pattern 以…为主 (yǐ … wéi zhǔ), meaning 'to take something as the main or primary element'. The 以 introduces what is given priority, and 为主 closes the phrase. You will rarely see 为主 used without 以 before it.
