Definition
主任 (zhǔrèn) refers to the head or director of an office, department, or committee, common in government, schools, and hospitals. Unlike 经理 (jīnglǐ, 'manager') which typically applies to business settings, 主任 is the primary title for leading an organizational unit. It is not used for creative directors (导演) or board members (董事).
