Definition
举 (jǔ) has three core uses in HSK 4: to raise (e.g. raise a hand), to cite an example, and to elect. For lifting, it's more general than 托 (tuō), which means to support from underneath with the palm. For giving examples, 举 is everyday speech, while 引用 (yǐn yòng) is formal quoting and 列举 (liè jǔ) means to list items exhaustively.
