Definition
久 (jiǔ) is the basic adjective for 'long in time', used to describe duration directly. 长久 (cháng jiǔ) is more formal and focuses on enduring quality; 久远 (jiǔ yuǎn) is for ancient times. Note: 好久 (hǎo jiǔ) is a separate word meaning 'quite a while'.
