Definition
乌托邦 is a loanword from English 'Utopia', originally the name of an ideal society in Thomas More's 1516 book. In modern Chinese, it refers broadly to any imagined perfect society or idealized system, often carrying a connotation of impracticality or wishful thinking — similar to 'pipe dream' in some contexts. It functions as a proper noun or common noun, and can be used both literally (the literary concept) and figuratively (an unrealistic plan).
