Definition
事出有因 is a fixed four-character idiom (chengyu) meaning 'nothing happens without a reason' or 'there is good cause for something.' It is used as a predicate or comment to imply that an event is not random—something must have prompted it. You typically place it after a situation, as in 他的辞职事出有因 ('His resignation has a reason').
