Definition
交纳 (jiāo nà) is a formal verb for paying mandatory dues, taxes, or fees to an authority. It is very close to 缴纳 (jiǎo nà), but 交纳 is slightly more formal and often used for institutional or compulsory payments (e.g., membership dues, taxes). Unlike 缴 (jiǎo), which can also mean 'to confiscate', 交纳 only means 'to pay'.
