Definition
人为 (rén wéi) means 'caused by human action' — it focuses on the origin or cause of an event (often negative), e.g. 人为因素 'human factors'. This sets it apart from 人工 and 人造, which describe something as artificially made or synthetic (人工湖 'man-made lake', 人造钻石 'synthetic diamond'). 人为 is not about whether something is fake (假 jiǎ) or insincere (虚伪 xū wěi).
