Definition
以致 (yǐ zhì) is a conjunction meaning 'to such an extent that, resulting in' — it always introduces a negative or undesirable outcome. It differs from 以至于 (yǐ zhì yú), which is more neutral and can be used for any result, and from 从而 (cóng ér), which indicates a logical consequence (often positive) rather than a cause-effect chain.
