Definition
伯伯 (bó bo) is the everyday spoken term for one's father's elder brother. It is less formal than 伯父 (bó fù), the written/formal equivalent, and more specific than 大爷 (dà ye), which can also be a general respectful address for older men. In contrast, 叔叔 (shū shu) refers to the father's younger brother.
