Definition
作对 (zuò duì) means to deliberately set oneself against someone, often in a personal or petty way. It's stronger and more confrontational than 反对 (fǎn duì, 'to oppose an idea or policy'), and is typically used with 跟 (gēn) as in 跟…作对. The other siblings (对抗, 对立, 对峙, 抗衡) describe broader or more formal opposition, while 作对 is specifically about being contrary to a person.
