依赖 (yī lài) means 'to depend on' and often carries a sense of emotional or habitual reliance, sometimes with a negative nuance of over-dependence. It is stronger and more personal than 依靠 (yī kào), which is neutral and can also mean physical support or backing. 依赖 is common in psychological or relational contexts, while 依靠 is broader.
