Definition
侮辱 (wǔrǔ) means 'to insult, to humiliate' — a direct attack on someone's dignity with words or actions. It is more targeted than 欺负 (qīfu 'bully'), which suggests ongoing mistreatment, and than 轻视 (qīngshì 'look down on'), which is an attitude. 糟蹋 (zāotà) can also mean 'insult' but primarily implies 'ruin' or 'waste', while 耻笑 (chǐxiào) means 'ridicule' or 'sneer'. Use 侮辱 for a specific, deliberate humiliation.
