Definition
入席 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to take one's seat at a banquet, ceremony, or other formal event'. The two syllables 入 ('enter') and 席 ('seat/banquet') can split when you need to insert a measure word, aspect marker, or duration: 入了席, 入过席, 入一次席. You cannot directly add an object after 入席—to specify the event, use a preposition like 在 (e.g., 在宴会厅入席).
