Definition
全然 is a formal adverb meaning 'completely' or 'entirely'. It often appears with negated verbs (全然不顾 'utterly disregard', 全然不知 'have no idea at all') to stress total ignorance or disregard. In affirmative sentences it sounds literary; in everyday speech 完全 is more common.
