公务 (gōngwù) means 'official business' or 'public affairs', specifically work related to government or administrative duties. It is more formal and public-service-oriented than 业务 (yèwù 'professional work/business'), and is largely interchangeable with 公事 (gōngshì), though 公事 can also refer to routine office tasks.
