Definition
兴建 (xīngjiàn) is a formal verb for 'to build' large-scale infrastructure or projects (stadiums, factories, subway lines). It is more specific to major construction than the general 建 (jiàn) or 修建 (xiūjiàn), and unlike 建设 (jiànshè), it focuses on physical building rather than developing institutions or systems.
