Definition
兹 (zī) is a formal, literary pronoun meaning 'this' or 'now', used only in official notices, announcements, and legal documents. Unlike everyday words like 这里 (zhè lǐ) or 这儿 (zhè r) for 'here', 兹 is never used in speech and appears in fixed phrases like 兹定于 ('it is hereby scheduled that').
