Definition
兼职 (jiān zhí) means a part-time job or to work part-time, typically in addition to a main career. It differs from 兼任 (jiān rèn), which refers to holding an additional formal position within an organization, and 兼 (jiān), which simply means to hold multiple roles at once (not necessarily part-time). 兼职 carries the connotation of extra work for extra pay, often outside one's primary job.
