Definition
凸 (tū) is an adjective describing a shape that sticks out or bulges outward, the opposite of concave. As 'male' (connector), it refers to a part that fits into a female counterpart — this is a technical sense, unrelated to 男 (nán, human male) or 公 (gōng, animal male). It differs from 突出 (tūchū), which is more about being prominent or conspicuous, not just physically protruding.
