出名 (chū míng) is a common adjective meaning 'famous, well-known', used in everyday speech. It is similar to 有名 (yǒu míng) but can also be used as a verb ('to become famous'). Compared to the more formal 著名 (zhù míng), 出名 is more colloquial and can describe both people and things.
