出息 (chū xi) means 'future prospects, promise (of success)' — it emphasizes a person's inherent potential for a bright future. This is different from 前途/前程 (which focus on future path/outlook) and 出路 (a way out/solution). Also note it is not a verbal promise (that’s 诺言).
