Definition
分量 (fèn liàng) has two related meanings: (1) the weight or quantity of something, and (2) the figurative weight or significance of words/opinions. Unlike 重量 (zhòng liàng), which is only physical weight, 分量 can refer to abstract influence. It also differs from 数量 (shù liàng, 'amount/quantity') and 份额 (fèn é, 'share/portion') in that 分量 often implies importance or heft, not just a numerical measure.
