创伤 (chuāng shāng) is a formal noun for a wound or injury, covering both physical damage (like a deep cut) and psychological trauma. It is more clinical and serious than 伤口 (shāng kǒu, a concrete cut on the skin) and more specific for trauma than 阴影 (yīn yǐng, a lingering shadow or dark influence). Unlike 伤 (shāng), which can be a verb, 创伤 is only a noun.
