Definition
判刑 is a verb-object compound (离合词) meaning 'to sentence (someone to a prison term)'. It can be separated: the verb 判 can take an object or a measure word between 判 and 刑, e.g., 判了三年刑. You can also say 判刑十年, but the separated form is common.
