Definition
前辈 (qián bèi) refers to a senior person in a field or organization — someone with more experience, not necessarily older. It differs from 长辈 (zhǎng bèi), which means 'elder' in a family or age sense, and from 前任 (qián rèn) or 上任 (shàng rèn), which specifically mean 'predecessor in a job or position'.
