Definition
升 (shēng) is a general verb for 'to rise, go up, increase' – used for temperature, prices, or promotion. Unlike 上升 (intransitive rise), 提升 (transitive lift/promote), 升级 (upgrade to a higher level), and 上涨 (price rise), 升 is more versatile and can be used in many contexts.
