卑微 (bēiwēi) describes a lowly, humble status or attitude, but with a strong negative connotation of inferiority or servility — it's never a compliment. This contrasts with 谦虚 (qiānxū) and 谦逊 (qiānxùn), which are positive traits of modesty and self-effacement. 卑微 focuses on low social standing or a demeaning tone, while 低下 (dīxià) is a more neutral, factual term for low status or quality.
