Definition
博士 (bó shì) means 'Ph.D.' or 'doctorate' — an academic degree or its holder. It is NOT used for medical doctors; those are 医生 (yīshēng) or 大夫 (dàifu). 先生 (xiānsheng) is a polite title like 'Mr.' and is unrelated.
