Definition
卧底 means 'to go undercover' or 'to work as a planted agent' — typically a police officer or investigator who infiltrates a criminal group. It can also be used as a noun for the undercover agent themselves (卧底警察). The verb is often used in the pattern 派去∼ (send someone to go undercover) or 当∼ (work as an undercover).
