Definition
即便 (jí biàn) means 'even if' and is used in formal, written Chinese to introduce a hypothetical concession, often paired with 也. It is more literary than 即使 (jí shǐ), which is common in both speech and writing, and more formal than 哪怕 (nǎ pà), which is colloquial and can mean 'no matter how'.
