反复 (fǎnfù) means 'repeatedly' (adverb) or 'to recur/relapse' (verb). It implies multiple repetitions or a back-and-forth change, unlike 重 (chóng) which simply means 'again' (one redo), or 来回 (láihuí) which is physical movement. For illness relapse, 复发 (fùfā) is the more specific term.
