Definition
反映 (fǎn yìng) has two main meanings: (1) to reflect light or an image, and (2) to report something to a superior or authority. Unlike 体现 (tǐ xiàn), which is used only for abstract qualities or principles, 反映 can be both literal and figurative. For physical reflection, 反射 (fǎn shè) is more technical and often used for light/sound.
