Definition
叠 (dié) means 'to fold' (paper, clothes) or 'to stack' (dishes, boxes) by placing one flat object on top of another. It differs from 堆 (duī 'to pile up'), which is for heaping irregular objects, and 码 (mǎ 'to stack'), which arranges items in an orderly stack without folding. For overlapping or superimposition, use 重叠 (chóng dié).
