Definition
口子 (kǒu zi) is a general word for an opening, cut, or gap in a surface. For holes, 洞 (dòng) suggests a deeper cave-like space, 孔 (kǒng) a small round opening, and 漏洞 (lòu dòng) a leak or flaw. As a classifier, 口子 counts family members only, while 位 (wèi) is polite and 名 (míng) formal for people in general; the colloquial meaning 'spouse' is a separate sense.
