Definition
唔 (n) is a spoken interjection used in informal Mandarin to express agreement ('oh, I see'), surprise ('oh!'), or hesitation ('um...'). It is distinct from the Cantonese negative marker 唔 (m4), which is a completely different reading. You'll hear it most in casual conversation, often at the start of a turn.
