Definition
喉 (hóu) is a bound form (b.f.) meaning 'throat, larynx'. You never use it alone in modern Chinese — it always appears inside compound words like 喉咙 (hóulóng, 'throat'), 喉糖 (hóutáng, 'throat lozenge'), or 喉部 (hóubù, 'throat area'). When you want to say 'throat', pair it with another morpheme.
