围墙 (wéi qiáng) is a perimeter wall that encloses an area, like around a school, factory, or residential compound. It differs from 墙 (qiáng), which is any general wall (inside or outside), and from 城墙 (chéng qiáng), which specifically refers to a historic city wall.
