Definition
围棋 (wéiqí) is the board game Go, played with black and white stones on a 19×19 grid, originating in ancient China. 象棋 (xiàngqí) is Chinese chess, a different game with pieces that move like Western chess but on a board with a river and palace. Both are called 'qí', but the rules and equipment are distinct.
