图 (tú) as a noun is a general word for any visual representation: a picture, drawing, chart, or map. It differs from the specific words 地图 (dìtú, map), 图画 (túhuà, drawing/painting), 图表 (túbiǎo, chart/diagram), and 图纸 (túzhǐ, blueprint). As a verb, 图 means 'to seek' or 'to pursue' an advantage, which the more formal 企图 (qǐtú) also does but with a connotation of plotting something bad.
