Definition
圈子 (quān zi) literally means a physical circle or ring (not a finger ring, which is 戒指). In social contexts, it refers to an informal, close-knit group of friends, colleagues, or like-minded people—different from the more formal 派/派别 (faction, school of thought) or 党 (political party).
