Definition
在职 (zài zhí) means 'currently employed' or 'on-the-job' — it describes the ongoing state of holding a position, often used as a modifier (e.g. 在职员工 'on-the-job employees'). Unlike 就职 (jiù zhí, 'to assume a post') or 任职 (rèn zhí, 'to hold a post'), which focus on the act or formal tenure, 在职 emphasizes the current employment status itself.
