Definition
坚韧 (jiān rèn) means tough and tenacious, used for both materials (flexible yet strong) and character (unyielding under pressure). It differs from 坚强 (jiān qiáng, strong-willed) and 顽强 (wán qiáng, indomitable persistence) by also covering physical durability. 坚固 and 坚硬 are only physical; 倔强 is negative stubbornness.
