Definition
壮烈 describes a heroic act that involves death or great sacrifice — it is always tragic and solemn. Unlike 勇敢 (just 'brave' in everyday life) or 英勇 (valiant in battle but not necessarily fatal), 壮烈 specifically implies a noble end. It is more intense and literary than 豪迈 (bold spirit) and never used for casual courage.
