多数 (duō shù) is a noun meaning 'the majority, most' — it directly modifies nouns (e.g., 多数人). Its opposite is 少数 (shǎo shù, minority). Unlike the adverb 大多 (dà duō, 'mostly'), 多数 cannot be used as an adverb to modify verbs.
