Definition
夫 (fū) is a bound morpheme in modern Chinese, not used as an independent word. It appears in compounds meaning 'husband' (夫妻, 丈夫), 'man' (匹夫), or 'worker' (农夫, 渔夫). In classical texts it also referred to a conscripted laborer, but that usage is now archaic. You will encounter it mostly in formal or literary compounds.
