Definition
奖 (jiǎng) is the general word for 'prize, award' (noun) or 'to award, give a prize' (verb). It covers any award—a trophy, money, or certificate—while its siblings are more specific: 奖金 is bonus money, 奖品 a physical prize, 奖牌 a medal, 奖项 an award category. As a verb, 奖 is broader than 奖励 (reward someone), 颁奖 (present at a ceremony), or 奖赏 (reward with a prize).
