好像 (hǎo xiàng) is the everyday, all-purpose word for 'it seems, as if' in spoken Chinese. It's more common and colloquial than 似乎 (sì hū, more formal/written) and 看来 (kàn lái, used to introduce an inference based on observation). 好像 can go before a verb or clause and is the default choice for expressing a subjective impression.
